ran memtest found 20 errors

so i ran memtest over night with my 8 gigz and i found 20 errors when i woke up.

does memtest use the hard drive? iv been suspecting my hard drive lately.

if not it might be my ram or my motherboard. it most likely isnt my cpu since i

just got that replaced.

how long should i test each ram in each slot?

my problem is that sometimes my computer will randomly freeze. it dosent

happen often but it is very annoying

The ram test loads the whole test into ram on reboot. The only thing being used when the test is going on is the board ram and cpu. I have never heard of a bad hdd causing a bad ram test.

run the test with 1 stick in at a time. 1 pass should only take like 10 minutes. If you can identify 1 bad stick replace it, or roll with out that 1 stick.

If you get no errors 1 by 1 but only when using multiple sticks, chances are your ram settings are wacked. Try messing with the xmp profile in the bios or manually setting the ram in the bios to whatever the manufactures specs are.
