I have an MSI G31M P33 Combo motherboard & have no video card installed - just using onboard video chip and shared memory.

I watch & do simple editing of training videos on my pc. Is there an advantage to increasing the shared video memory from the default of 32 mb to something much larger in BIOS settings? Like 64 or 128 mb?

Yes it will have an advantage. Put it to 128mb. It's going to give your on board video more head room for performance.
