Swapping RAM modules

My sister has a 2008 Dell Optiplex with only 512 MB of RAM (478 MB showing in DXDIAG) which is barely running XP Pro. And, yes, I know support is over in 2014. I've already moved on to Windows 7 and Windows 8. But all they use it for is email and a couple of Facebook games.

The memory standard for the motherboard is DDR2, 533 Mhtz, 4-4-4 latency. I have a couple of old sticks of Corsair RAM that are DDR2, 800 Mhtz, 5-5-5-18 latency. I have built several computers, but I'm not familiar with whether I can swap in my Corsair RAM on this motherboard.

Any advice? No way, Jose? Settings in the BIOS?

Because you already have those 800Mhz RAM, just install the RAM one by one, I mean install one first, turn on the PC if it is oK, and so on for 2nd one, 3th, or 4th, etc.
The worst case scenario is the PC will not boot otherwise the RAM maybe run in 533mhz or 667mhz speed.

Because some of corsair RAMs are very picky like the valueselect brand. I have two of them. If you have those when you install them into the PC and the PC maybe not boot but the computer will not be frying. Only it wouldn't boot that means they are not compatible. Sometime you can move the RAM into the next slot to try.

These are not the Corsair Value Select, but good info to know. It will be the end of the summer before I go back up to Iowa and will try them then. Thanks for the help...
