So im in the process of upgrading my 19" LCD monitor to something like a 32" or 42" Full HD LED Screen(or anything in between), i am using a Gigabyte GT 640 2GB DDR3 OC Edition Graphics card(yeah i know its not the top of the range card, just wanted a card that would play most of the new games at high settings).

My question therefore is, can you guys mention a few specs that i should look for in a screen when deciding to buy(eg resolution, response time, usb, hdmi,3D)

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

that card won't be able to play games on a 1080p monitor. I would spend a little cash upgrading yourself to something better too.

As for monitor... make sure it has the io jacks you need... that it is 1080p (min) and that it has around a 1ms-5ms response time.

Thanks for the reply, i understand that it wont support 1080p, but any other specs that this card would support would be highly appreciated. Thanks again for the specs that you did give me:)

generally 2ms is considered ideal "responce time"... though many people will tell you 5ms is just as good. the only other spec you really need to pay attention to is the refresh rate... if some day down the road you're going to get a serious gpu, you'll probably want a monitor with a 120hz-144hz refresh rate... that said, most screens with a refresh rate like that are very expensive... 60hz is fine... though know you'll only see 60fps on one... so don't overbuy the gpu you get (HD7950/760GTX should be the upper limit in that case)

What the manufacturer "says" is its response time is utterly meaningless...... 1) many outright lie ..... 2) what response time ... black to black gray to gray ?

Look for a reliable site who has independently measured the manufacturer's claims

Wow, they make 1ms monitors now? I thought LEDs werent good for gaming.

generally asus, samsung and sony reports their monitors response time correctly. after that it's a crapshoot.
