i have the amd 18-4500m, it is said to be able to turbo boost to 2.8ghz, but because it only has 35 watts, it only reaches about 2.3, is there anyway i can give it more wattage? if so how much? im looking for software or anything

If I'm not mistaken that CPU is a mobile CPU for laptops, I'm not going to search because the answer will be the same. you would have to enter the Bios and up the CPU core voltage. If it is a laptop many of the Bios options are locked by the maker and can not be changed.

to find out if the bios are locked you will need to restart the system and at the first splash screen you will need to press F2 or Delete repeatedly. If there is no option to adjust the CPU voltage then that option is locked and there will be no way to increase the voltage.

na na na...

you cant give more watts to an CPU.

this Watts we say is how much power the CPU consomes, and TDP (in watts too) is how much heat its generate

lets give an example
X CPU works with 1GHz, 1 volt and consomes 50W
well if i downclock this cpu to 500 mhz and 0.5 volt, the cpu will consome 25W
if i overclock to 2 Ghz and 2 volt the cpu will consome 100W
understand

the reason you CPU could not reach higher speed is not this, but another reason

Gack2009 for your issue I would use CPU-Z to monitor the CPU frequency and use Prime95 or Intel burn test to stress the CPU to see the max frequency during the test. If it still uses 1.4 GHz then look in the Bios and make sure the multiplier is set correctly.

I tried cpu-z and i did some benchmark but it still 1.4 GHz max
no lower no higher.
And the multiplier is x7 i think it should be x16 but the BIOS gives me red color when i put it at x16 i Will take screenshot soon.

it will only turbo temporary to complete a task the more demanding the higher it will oc otherwise it will stay at its stock speed
