Hey guys , i have AMD Phenom II x4 820 @2.8 GHz in my pc and im planing to buy a 760 GTX , i cant overclock it because of the OEM motherboard . so will my CPU bottleneck my 760 GTX. im not upgrading it for next one or two years.

(if you have any way to overclock a cpu in a motherboard that doesn't support overclocking please tell me!)

THANKS!!!

Solution

Um... no, most games will do better with a higher CPU clock. If what you are trying to imply is true then my ATI HD5770 is bottlenecked by my CPU which is an AMD 965BE. Sorry but my CPU is not my bottleneck. There is a big misconception that the new GPU's need a new CPU to not bottleneck and unless you have a weak quadcore cpu you will be fine. Of course there are exeptions to this like the Titan and 690 that could potentially bottleneck many CPU's...
speed fan has a way to potentially up the core speed but it is not a guarantee. There are also other programs that may be able to do it I just cant remember the names of them off the top of my head as I have not bought an OEM built machine in many years because of this exact reason.

EDIT: oops forgot to answer you first question. it should not bottle neck but you will get a boost in FPS with a higher clocked CPU.

um... That's the definition of a bottleneck...

And yes it will bottleneck, it cant be overclocked, and the PSU probably can't support a 670.

I agree that you will need to make sure you have an ample enough PSU to upgrade to that card.

Solution

no what is meant is the wattage the PSU can output may be too weak. you will need to make sure the wattage the PSU is rated for is high enough or it will not work and possibly cause damage to other parts of the system.

Thanks guys for the answer, i know that i need a good psu and im looking for a good one to run my pc with the card , can you guys recommend a good one for me ( if there is a good one for under 50$ )

THANKS again :D

that card requires a minimum of a 500W PSU. when it comes to a PSU you get what you pay for and you really should not skimp on quality.
this is what I recommend but out of your price range mentioned.

this one is all right but not great quality

this one is not so good but in your price range. right now there is a sale on this one and needs a promo code to be entered "+ 10% off w/ code JCZP10 + Free Copy of Far Cry3, limited offer"
