AMD or Intel for my new computer?

Solution
For a gaming cpu @$180, you would do better with a i5-3350P intel quad.
Few games use more than 2-3 cores, so an 8 core is not much help, and intel cores are more effective per clock.

Better, yet, would be a 3570K. If you live near a microcenter, they will sell you one for $190.
You will want a z77 based motherboard to overclock the "K".
I like 16gb of ram, ram is cheap. But for gaming, no game will use more than 2-3gb, so 8gb is the norm.
I would not build today without a SSD for at least the os and some apps. 120b will do it. Why not defer on a hard drive until you need the room.

I've gotten all these questions before. The secondary HDD is for FRAPS, the more space taken up in the hardrive it saves the movies to, the less FPS you get when you're recording. Don't ask me why.
16 GB RAM is for movie editing.
I don't need an SSD, I could care less about boot speed.
This PC is for gaming, and making videos. (Recording, editing etc.)
Thanks to geofelt for answering my question. I'll look into it.
