I recently bought a radeon hd 6850 graphics cars that has a hdmi port and two different dvi ports. Im trying to hook my philips 220e monitor directly to the card via its dvi port. So im running a dvi from the monitor to thw hdmi in the card and it will not work. It tells me there is no video imput and then goes to sleep. I have tried turning it off and I have made sure that it is set to dvi mode but still nothing. Any suggestions? Maybe a dvi to dvi cable would be better?

Well I know that the monitor is fine and my gpu is fine. For the longest time I was using a crt to crt cable from my monitor to my old graphics card and that worked great. However I had never tried using dvi. The only way for me to get any display at the moment is to switch my monitor to vga then run the crt cable directly to my gpu which works okay but I can only do basic things as this method of display can't handle much. I'm going back to the store tomorrow to try a dvi to dvi cable to see if I can run my monitor directly to my graphics card that way.

So after getting a dvi to dvi cable nothing has improved. I still get a black screen on my monitor when connecting to my graphics card. I'm going to try and reinstall the latest drivers for my card and see if that helps anything. However im not even sure my computer is recognizing the card is plugged in. I cant find it in device manager or anywhere else though I know its connected properly and is functioning :( Any ideas?
