Would I benefit from partitioning my SDD in this fashion?

Hey guys,

So my components will be here any day now I was just thinking... I ordered a 256gig SSD to get me started but I was wondering if it would be a good idea to partition off a piece of the drive purely for my operating system.

My reasoning is that I'd have, for example, section 'A' which would be 30gb and contain windows 7, and the section 'B' which would hold the rest of my programs/games. I'd also store my system image on system 'b'.

Would this be beneficial? I'm thinking it'd be helpful for keeping things clean but I really don't know.

Also, how much space would I need for windows 7?

Thanks

30 GB is way way too small.....I perform routine cleanups of my IOS drive (w/o going too crazy) and after a year, it takes up 62 GB. No matter what partition ya install ya programs on, BIG programs like AutoCAD and Adobe design stuff place "common files" on C:\

Just keep it one drive. There are advantages with HDD because of fragmentation, speedier parts of the disk and whatnot, but you won't have that issue with a SSD. the only thing would be if you want to split it so that if you re-install windows, you only lose one partition, but applications need to be re-installed anyway.. so that is only beneficial if you use the other partition for things like files, pictures, videos, etc.
