Which build is superior? Intel vs AMD

Alright so I'm narrowed down to two specific builds, and I just can't decide, I need some advice. Now some notes about these builds; the AMD build has this motherboards specifically because it's very good and I've heard that the next gen will be on the same socket. Therefore with the AMD build I feel like I'm future-proofing a bit better with this board (also a reason that I'm slightly leaning towards AMD); although I could downgrade to a GA-990fx-ud3. Lastly with the intel build I chose haswell, because it's very similar performance compared to IB, and I don't do a lot of OCing. My main purpose with this rig is gaming and general use.

Take the AMD one. It's far supperior than the intel, believe me. (8 cores, 4ghz :ouch: and plus, it's cheaper)
Besides, AMD CPUs and graphic cards last longer than Intel's.
EDIT: AMD is also the best for gaming, it has a great potential of over-clocking.

I would go with an intel build if you have that kind of budget, the 4670k is better than the 8350 and uses less power to do so so easy choice :p. Anything above 1000$ AMD is not worth it, AMD is more logical in the sub 1000$ builds.

CPU's aren't just cores and ghz you know ;).

both build's are good but intel build edge'es out due to its superior CPU performance. but nonetheless, both build's will give you awesome gaming performance. and if your not doing some heavy OC or if you want to save a few bucks then then a 650 watt PSU will be a much better option.

Right, but I must say that 8 cores is rather tempting, what I was saying by "lasts longer" is that the Intel core tempts to heat up fast!
Amd usually keeps between 50 and 60 degrees depending on what you're doing.
Anyway the choice is yours, mate, but if I were you I'd take the AMD.

... and the fanboy war commences. I'm not even going to touch this one. This is almost as bad as asking "Xbox or Playstation?" or "Mac or PC?" or "Yankees or Red Sox?" The answers people will give you are pretty much what they own themselves.

Erghh... I must say that on this side, he's right.
People will say black, others white.
It's a question of preferences really.

As far as the intel build goes, would it be more wise to go with the 4670k over the 3570k? I've read several threads but it's all wishy-washy. Also is it true that the haswell cpus benefit more from having a higher mhz of RAM? Lastly could anyone suggest some great mobos for the intel build?

Intel can whitstand higher temps better than AMD, AMD HAS to be cool, intel doesn't mind if it heats up a little.

From your link:

intel:
"In single-threaded tasks, the CPU has 53% higher performance."

AMD:
"The FX-8350 is 2% faster in multi-threaded tasks"

I would take that 53% over that 2% anyday :p. Gaming still is mostly single threaded performance you know?

Multi-threaded ?
Well, guess you must be right since he wants a pc mostly for gaming and not video editing or something like that.

Ok, ok I admit I was wrong. Have a look a this:
FX-8350

General recommendations:
A bit faster in multi-threaded tasks,
Features FMA4 / XOP instructions,
Can be easily overclocked,
Less expensive,
Better price / performance ratio

Drawbacks:
Not as fast overall,
A bit slow in graphics programs,
Lacks some instructions,
Comes without integrated GPU,
Less energy efficient

Core i5-4670K

General recommendations:
Faster in all program types,
Slightly higher performance in graphics programs,
Features AVX2 instructions,
Includes HD 4600 GPU,
Somewhat more energy efficient

Drawbacks:
Performs insignificantly worse in multi-threaded applications,
Lacks some instructions,
Somewhat higher official price,
Somewhat worse price / performance ratio

Anyhow like this, I don't see much difference.
But still, I'll rectify myself go Intel!
