Hi.

I'm running a gtx 295, and it has been running great so far. But one day I wasn't able to turn on SLI in the nvidia control panel. When I do so, nvidia control panel crashes and my screen goes to 800*600 resolution. I also noticed that one of the cards shows error 43 in windows driver management (but only after I try to enable SLI). I google it and found out error 43 is due to hardware failue. I'm able to see both GPU with GPUZ and also track the temperature, so it doesn't seem like it's broken?

However the only way I can revert back from 800*600, is to switch in graphic card to another PCI slot, and then I'm able to run the gtx 295, but without SLI enabled and windows driver management doesn't show any errors.

Hope you can help, thanks.

Yes it does sounds like a hardware failure on one of the GPU's.

here's a post with a similar problem:

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1662892/error-code-3rd-card-sli.html

the OP there, did a clean install of the drivers. This may help you.

There is an option when installing Nvidia drivers to do a clean install, which removes old drivers, and profiles. You could try that, and see if it works.

But as I said, sounds like one of your's GPU's are dying/dead.

I just did a clean install, and now "maximize 3d performance" is on. However the green "multi-GPU" text isn't there and the physx is set to cpu and not automatic. If I set physx to automatic, then nvidia control panel hang up.

it really sounds like GPU is broken :(
