I'm getting a hyper cooler master tx3 for my phenom 965 BE, my mobo is the ASUS m5a78L-M LX PLUS, and I have 1.65v 1600 8gb (two 4gb sticks) RAM.

I have the c3 stepping deneb 965be, so would I have to manually increase the NB frequency accordingly with my core clock speed or do mobo's like mine automatically do that for you.

This will be my 1st overclock

Your MB has a feature called "Turbo Key", it is an older version of the TPU mode on newer MB's. You should look into this feature carefully as it will likely adjust the BUS along with the Multiplier and VCore. The trick is to use their software and then look in the BIOS to see how the changes were made: multiplier, VCore, HT Bus, and then you will be able to better see where to start and make your smaller incremental increases from there. The TPU mode on my ASUS M5A99x (old version ) will adjust the bus from 200 to 216, the VCore from 1.356v to 1.445v with the multiplier at 23 (4.6Ghz on a 8350). Asus OC software usually works very well!
