Hi,
I'm going to get a new monitor along with my new Gigabyte GTX770. All the info I have been checking are mostly about 2 monitors Asus VG278H and Benq XL2720T and the 24" versions of these. I kind of decided that I like Asus one better, but then my bro came along and says that it is too old (2011) and that I should get 24" instead, because pixel pitch will make 27" look bad.. Is this any true? I was pretty skeptic, but then I checked some known people gaming rigs and some of them were using 24" (and using it with Titan.. o_O) .. multiple mostly, but still. So, to summ up:

1) Does 24" look better than 27"? Because of pixel pitch or something
2) Isn't 27" too big? Can I see all on screen? Currently I have 18,5" and I'm used to sitting about 1,5-2 feet away, but there is room to move it back to ~3 feet if needed, or how it goes.
3) Is there anything about product age that matters? Like Asus one don't have Display Port.. does that matter?
4) For Asus 27" there are 3 versions - H, HE and HR.. whats the difference? Well HE is 144hz.. OK (not choosing it anyway, because the reviews said its worse than H), but HR? In specification I didn't find anything..
5) Asus VG278H is said to come with Glasses.. but is it V1 or V2? Or it depends on each retail store?
6) What you prefer? The price differs here for about 180$ for 27" versions, are the glasses worth it? Or better take cheaper version and buy glasses separately? I suppose that I want to try 3D.. well just because I can
7) I understand that these 120+Hz monitors are pretty new thing, but how is the lifetime for these things? I kind of suppose that I don't want to get new monitor.. well unless for movies or multi-monitor setup.. will it serve for 5-10 years? Or we will be using Oculus Rift soon enough to forget all this?
8) Will my GTX770 be good enough for LightBoost n stuff? Does it depends on 27" or 24"?

Thanks!

1.)Well, if you have the same resolution on a 24" and a 27" screen then the 27" will have a lower dpi, meaning it will look worse. I wouldn't recommend getting a 27" unless it's 2560x1440.

2.) Nope. I have a 27" 2560x1440 and it's wonderful. It seems huge at first, but not after a week or so. I sit about 2-3 feet away from it.

3.) As long as it has the features you want (inputs, resolution, screen type, etc.) then it doesn't matter.

4,5, 6.) I don't know. Hopefully someone else can answer.

7.) It will last as long as you want it to. Monitors generally last a long time.

8.) I don't believe your gpu does anything for LightBoost, just the monitor itself. Your gpu also doesn't care what size the screen is. It only cares about the resolution.

Thanks for your input!
I wonder what other people think about 27" @ 1920×1080, well thats what Iwas aiming for.. If looking at Pixel Pitch, it is 0.311 against 2560x1440 0.233. Though, it is pretty far comparing to 24" @ 1920×1080, there it is 0.277, but between 24" and 27" at 1920×1080, the difference doesn't seem that big.. though, those are just numbers and I have no idea how it looks in life.
What I definitely want is a 120+Hz monitor and ones supporting 2560x1440.. well are there ones? I guess if there are, then nowhere near the price of these other monitors :)

There will be a big difference when you look at the monitors. You will start to see the lines if you sit close with a 27" 1920x1080. If you want 120 Hz then you will have to stick to 1920x1080 for now. I haven't seen any 2560x1440 monitors higher than 60 Hz due to them all being IPS. I would be interested in 2560x1440 @ 120Hz too.

I assume you like FPS games right? I have heard great things about that 144Hz Asus monitor. You may want to look into that. If you play RPG more you want get more benefit from a 2560x1440 monitor.

Hmm.. thanks. I guess I'll better pick the 24" for 1920x1080 then :pfff: Mostly I tend to play older games where graphics don't matter that much, but FPS I'm playing a lot.. and will use the monitor for movies and sometimes for work.
