Hi, I recently went to Fry's and two guys working there told me to buy this Nvidia Geforce GT 610 video card along with an Athena Flex ATX 320 watt power supply for my Dell Inspiron 530s tower. It's a slim tower. So I got the power supply installed and I have three connections that don't fit anywhere. I read online I need an SATA connector/splitter for my fourth connection and the other two connectors look like they are a 6 prong/peg end and a 4 prong/peg end, so I think they go to like a floppy disk drive or something.
ANYway, my problem is when I got to the video card, it doesn't fit... it's too wide by like 2" for my slim tower. Where it connects inside the tower, it did slide in, but there was about 1/2" to an 1" where it doesn't connect.
I am upset because I didn't get to return anything (past the return cut-off), so I am going to sell this card on Ebay, but I need to know what kind of card to buy! I thought these guys at Fry's would tell me exactly what to get, correctly... I had a print-out with me all about my system, etc... :-/ Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Mary

Hi Mary,

your Dell is low profile. this means it only takes half hight cards.

but before I can help , I need to know your budget and what do you want to do with the VGA card , if for gaming the GT610 is a bad choice .

dont worry about the extra cables , you dont need to plug all the cables , just the needed ones.

please tell me how much are you going to pay max for the VGA card.

your best choice is Radeon HD 7750 with 1G GDDR5 , dont get ddr3 cards ever.

I need you to open your case get a ruler and measure the maximum length of the card that can be installed . thanks .

Hi, thanks for your response. I just do some online games like on Facebook, so nothing major. My sons play Marvel Heroes (new game that just started online) and my oldest dabbles in Wow, but he does have his own computer for that (much better than mine).
When I measure my old video card, it's 7" long.
I don't want to spend over $60 or $75...
Thanks!

Hi,

your case can take more than 7 inch card , there is extra space to the first obstacle .

1-SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6670 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile

was originally 84$ now 70$ with 15$ rebate (DONT MISS IT)

Hi, thanks again. I hope this reply works. I am doing it from my phone and it looks funny. You say the card I bought (Gt610) is too slow? I was thinking about keeping it and not putting the side of the tower back on it because I went back to Fry's and they only had one video card that would work and even with it, I think it was going a step down from my previous card (the one that came in it was an ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro).
What do you think? Is the GT610 really bad?
Thanks for all your help!

yes it is very slow card .. it is the bottom line of 6xx cards , and wit DDR3 ram .

There are 610,620,630,640,650,650TI,660,660 TI,670,680 ,690 VGA cards.

the 7750 with GDDR5 is the speed of GT 650 that's 3 times faster than GT610 .

here is a quick chart
