I've run into some issues with my overclock. I decided to take the cpu cooler off to check the TIM was applied properly. I then took the cpu off and carefully cleaned it and and the cooler. I reseated the cpu and attached the cooler tried to turn on but kept getting a bios error, which the came down to the fact I accidently hit one of the auto overclock buttons that's attached to the board. I disabled the setting and when I restarted the pc I reloaded the 4.7 ghz settings I used previously. On these settings it lasted 24 hours on a test but now with the exact same bios settings it wont last 30 mins   and its not the temps because if anything they are even better now. I am completely baffled because when I increase the voltage now, the test runs for a longer period of time which gives the impression it needs more voltage......

I don't have an answer for your problem but I will say a 4,7 OC on a Haswell is ridiculously high especially when using an air cooler. Voltages above 1,35 is something I'd personally want to avoid on the Haswell -but I'm looking for stability and durability not OC benchmarks so that might differ. My 2 cts..

Are you running a haswell rig?

I'm in the process of assembling a new build but it will be a high-end DAW-dedicated PC so I have very other demands than gamers.

4.5ghz/4.6Ghz is pretty much the max air overclock you want to do. 4.5 for a hyper 212 and 4.6+ for a D14 and other high end coolers

Well, I will stay between 4,2-4,4 GHz as I'm looking for absolute silence and durability. I think the hyper is overrated and I'll be using the Noctua or the Thermalright HR-02 Macho Rev A.

I know scan.co.uk is having big problems at the moment delivering a stable 4,2 GHz as they already guaranteed 4,4 GHz but the latest batch they got crashed at 4,3GHz!

Probably dont know what the hell they are doing. I've overclocked 3 different rigs for friends and all topped out at 4.5+ on air.

I know you meant it as a joke but the guy I'm talking about delivers high-end DAWs for major music studios and as you know we're all dependent on the lottery of what kind of batch we're getting. Maybe you got the golden ones, I don't know ;)
