Hey Everyone,

I am trying to solve this issue, and I know I will order the wrong thing, so I am coming to the experts...

My Current Situation:
I am currently running 2 NVS 295 video cards that support 4 monitors. I am a day trader, so no gaming...just charts. The NVS cards each have 2 display ports, and that's their only connectors.

My Desired Situation:
I am about to purchase four 27 inch monitors that run 2560x1440. These monitors only come with a "dual link DVI" port and a "VGA" port. So I am assuming I will want to use the dual link DVI connection. But my current video cards only have display port connections, and after reading around (I'm still fuzzy on it), I have read that these 2 signals are different, and can't be converted. But I have also read that they can.

So I am wanting to know if I can use my current video cards with an adapter, and if not, what video card/s you recommend to support these 4 monitors?

Links:

-This thread mentioned the issue of dual link dvi to display port, but I didn't understand the conclusion.

-This adapter seems to fit, but the warnings in the description have me wondering if the signal will pass through to my video cards.

Is there a card with a little less firepower (cheaper) that you would recommend?

Also, that adapter you listed is a single link. I would need a double link, for the higher resolution...and that over doubles the price of the adapter
