Hi guys,

I just received my new EVGA GTX 780 w/ ACX cooling. I put it in with no problems, it boots up fine, but when I installed the new drivers (both the release and beta) it stops producing any output when I get to the login screen.

I've flashed the BIOS, updated the firmware on the card, and neither of these helped.

The weird thing is, I tried rolling back and using my old card (580) and it started doing the same thing.

Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Another thing, in the device manager, it comes up with this:
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

And why would you install Beta drivers?

Because the official release ones and older ones weren't working, I thought it was worth at try.

Try running in safe mode, how did you installed drivers if the screen wasnt working? Try removing and re-installing the card. Where did you connected the cable for display? Motherboard ports dont work as soon as you insert a graphic card.

It runs fine in safe mode. When running off of the Windows drivers it's 100% okay. It only stops outputting something after the Windows splash screen, after I install any drivers. I don't have any onboard ports, it's an enthusiast board.

I've tried all 4 PCI-E slots on the motherboard, and they are all the same: initially fine with Windows drivers, then once Nvidia ones are installed, it stops producing output once it gets to the OS.

The thing is, I can hear everything, I can login (without looking) and I hear the OS running but there's just no video.

Update BIOS on motherboard. Then turn off computer, remove RAM and GPU. Put all back in. Power it up and go to BIOS and set all to default, see how it goes from there with the gtx 580 that you had. If its ok try the 780.

Asked on EVGA forums - it seems that it might be a registry issue, especially due to the error in the Device Manager. I'll try reformatting my boot disk and reinstall Windows later today.

It was a registry issue. Reformatted, and it's perfect!
