I have a 5 y.o. Dell XPS 730 -100w power supply. It doesn't seem work anymore. Not sure if it is the ps or another problem. When I press the power button on the front of the desktop nothing happens, but when I press the reset of the power suppy, the fans ...etc start. Problem when I let go it all stops.
I've disconnected the main cables to the mobo and the same thing occurs.
Would anyone know if it is the power supply I have to replace?????
I'm going to upgrade the mobo, but know little about the P. supply.

... it could be overloadaded all the time untill it blew up

almost all the PSU in world have protection to prevent any damage on the other components, so is very posible that you just need to replace it...

but first try to use one of your friends, or one from another computer of your house just conecting the most important components (mother board, HDD, CPU) and see if all works fine
