I'm a first-time builder, and I've run into a slight hiccup. Everything is plugged in properly to the best of my knowledge according to the mobo manual and I know I'm getting power to the mobo. All the fans are running when I power it up (CPU/GPU/Case), and the disc drive opens and closes, but I get nothing on the display and no LEDs on the front panel of the case.

System:
Cooler Master HAF 912 Mid Tower
ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 AM3+ Motherboard
WD Caviar Blue 1TB HDD
Samsung 840 Series 120GB SSD
Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 600W ATX PSU
Kingston HyperX (2x4GB) DDR3 Ram
XFX Double D HD 7870 2GB DDR5 GPU

I'm running an HDMI cable from the GPU to the monitor and I've tried 3 different cables, including the one from my living room TV that I know works properly. I haven't tride using the DVI because I don't have a DVI cable, but I'll buy one if that's a potential solution. I just can't imagint that would be the problem.

I'm not a computer guru, just proficient. So, not to be rude, but the simpler you word responses the more likely it is I'll be able to understand it. LOL

If you need more information or pictures, let me know. Thanks!

Sorry, forgot the CPU...

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition

As far as I'm aware they should be compatible. But how would I check the BIOS version to know? Sorry... as I said, I'm kinda new at all this.

So, since the mobo doesn't have an on-board graphics card I'd have to borrow someone else's long enough to get the BIOS up and install the drivers for the 7870?

Ok, so I've been able to verify that my BIOS is up-to-date (enough) to support all the devices I've got attached to it based on ASUS' own compatibility charts for this particular mobo. I'm still getting no picture when I power on, though all the fans are working.

I've verified that everything is plugged in correctly.

My last test that I know to run is just waiting on a mobo speaker to be shipped (hopefully today or tomorrow) so I can test for POST beep codes.

In the meantime, is there ANYTHING that anyone can think of that might be the cause other than a bad mobo?
