Ok, so i have been going from shop to shop in my city. Building my first desktop and almost all of the components have the same prices as described on the official sites (Intel,Nvidia, AMD etc AFTER USING THE REAL MONEY EXCHANGE RATE ).

However, i don't see why GPU's cost +$100 extra or more here. This is the only thing that is holding me back. for example, a GTX 660 Ti costs around $400, which is absolutely insane!

Am i missing something here? If i order the GPU from Amazon, will it cost the same or extra $100 for taxes or stuff? (excluding the shipping fee).

Besy Buy is an interesting example. They actually offer competive prices on high ticket items such as hard drives, video cards, and complete PCs.

They make a lot of their profit on impulse accessories/neccesities such as cables, power adapters, video signal converters, etc. Installation and support is another way.

Though with online purchases you do trade taxes for shipping which can tip it one way or another depending on where you live. If you care to get the Amazon Prime subscription shipping is almost always free.

very true i did the prime since one order i was doing was going to cost me 30+ dollrs so i might as well spend 40 and get 2 day shipping for the year and have used it like 4 times already, i love it
