Hi Guys, I have a problem I hope someone can help me with. Just for the record, I've searched for "acer laptop boot" (http://www.tomshardware.com/s/acer%20laptop%20boot/) and read a few pages deep, but didn't find anything with the same problem or any solutions. I also read Tradesman's mobo troubleshooting guide but didn't see any solutions there either.
The Problem
Laptop is an Acer 5750z, about 2 years old. It was working fine until one day, when powered on, it turns on, fans start, blue lights on, but nothing else. The monitor doesn't turn on, the hard drive doesn't start spinning. Ctrl-Alt-Del does nothing, Ctrl-C does nothing. It will stay on like that until I hold the power button down five seconds to force shut off.
My Failed Attempts to Fix
First I plugged in a VGA cable and connected other end to my TV. Powered up laptop, nothing. Pressed Fn+F7, Win+P to get it to send to external monitor, but nothing again.
Next, I took off the bottom HDD/RAM panel and made sure both HDD and RAM were seated properly. Restart laptop, same problem.
Then I removed the HDD and turned on. Same problem again. So the problem exists regardless of whether the HDD is plugged in. And now I'm lost.
It was a cheap laptop to start with, so I'm hesitant to take it into a shop and spend probably the same amount that it's worth just to get fixed. But if anyone has any suggestions on how I could try to fix the problem on my own, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
