Cant set up minecraft server!!?

Hello,
I have been fighting to try and get a minecraft server up and running so my friends can play on it as they don't have good pc's however I have been unsuccessful. I created my own server and I can access it and I can also access it from other pc's on my wifi network however someone else outside of the network cannot. have set up the server and postfowarded it using the BT online service however on my friends pc it will not connect. I have no idea where I am going wrong with this and it would be good if anyone could please help me.
I have disabled my firewall but it has not helped

You need to forward port 25565 to you computer's ip address. Both TCP and UDP. You also need to make sure your computer has a static ip address. if you are unsure about how to do this i can make a tutorial in the next few days for you via Youtube.

So I started recording the video but my recording software stopped working. I found another video that will explain to you how to set up the server. Perhaps better than i would of been able to.
