I just got my new XFX 850W Full Modular power supply and I have a few questions before I start plugging things into it.

First question I have is about the 24 pin ATX connector, why does it have 24 on the MB side and 28 on the PSU side? I imagine that I still plug in both connectors on the PSU but I just didn't understand why there is more on the PSU side of the cable.

Second question, The 8 pin CPU connector I imagine I could plug in to any of the plugs labeled CPU/PCIE or do I have to use the one lone plug on the top row?

Third is about the PCIE plugs. I also got the GTX780 which has one 8 pin and one 6 pin for power, now the plugs for the PSU each PCIE plug has two 6+2 pins. Now I am assuming that even though the plugs have two 6+2 pins I would still use two separate plugs on the PSU?

Thanks

Solution
There are 28 pins on the PSU side because there are a few sense feedback lines included.

If you look at a full wired power supply's main ATX cable you will also see a few sense wires in the cable bundle. They are always of much lighter wire gauge because they're not used to carry power.

I want a picture of that. Are you sure it is 28-pin? And you counted it?

I have no idea what you are talking about.

Yes; you will need two PCIe connectors for the GTX 780. Plug a single (6+2)-pin into the 8-pin slot and another (6+2)-pin into the 6-pin slot while leaving two dangling off.

Ok, Thanks for the answer about the PCIE. That'w what I figured but I wanted to be sure before plugging anything in. I will take some pics and brb.

Here is a pic:

There are 2 plugs labeled M/B which I believe are for the power to the motherboard one plug is 18 pin and the other is 10 pin. Also on the top row is one CPU/PCIE plug and more on the bottom. I assume that there are all the same so it shouldn't matter which one I use for the CPU power correct?

And here is a pic of the ATX plug 24 pin on one side and 1(18pin) + 1(10pin) on the other

You would think that, but the manual doesn't say anything about it. That's what I figured but I was just lost as to the extra connections to the PSU.
