I record a lot of movies and tv shows, And i am wondering if my purchase of a Samsung 840 256 GB Pro was a mistake. Not because i am disapointed in the drive just the oppisite, It works better than i hoped for. My question is, I record tv and movies on the O/C and then move them to 1 of 3-3 Tb HDDs and will this Damage the SSD, I did not know about the Damage that Deleating would cause when i bought it , And if moving the file is as Bad as deleating it.

It won't hurt a thing. Delete or move the files that you want. You might want to set your downloading or recording directly to the HDDs.

If you have windows 7 or 8, the trim function will take care of your SSD. If you are using Vista, you probably will have to do the trim function manually every now and again because Vista does not support trim.

Thanks spooky2th; I am running win 7 pro 64, But i am not very tech savvy. 1st i know nothing about the trim on a SSD, And i have no idea how to get my win media center to put the files to the Hdds i am also running a happauge tv tuner with the media center. I guess i need to do some studying do you know where i could find the info or link on how to do this. Thanks.

I don't have any advice for what you are doing but when I download a game or music or whatever I use the options to put it where I want it. I hardly ever use the default settings and especially when installing a game or something. I'm sure there's got to be options for you to change the default download file/drive.

Since you are using win 7 pro, you can delete and/or move files from your ssd, no problems. But look for that option to put them where you want them and you can skip the moving of files around.
