Thermal Paste Required?

I have just finished my first build and had to return a faulty motherboard. This has resulted in having to remove the stock thermal paste on the stock CPU fan and I now have to wait a couple of days to get some more. Would it be ok to install windows, get the drivers, complete the general set up of the computer without thermal paste? I obviously won't be putting any form of load on the system and will not use it past set up until I have some thermal paste. I have an Intel i5 4670k if for some reason that matters, thanks.

Solution
No. Thermal paste creates a better thermal connection between the cpu and heatsink. Without the paste your system can quickly overheat - even when it is idle.

Thanks that reply was quick, I didn't know that you could overheat at idle without thermal paste, guess I'll hold out a few days :(
