Z77 Extreme4 No RAM detected (Code 53). How do I fix?

This is the second Z77 Extreme4 mobo that I've purchased, and the second to display the same error code: 53. The first motherboard had a couple broken pins where the CPU is supposed to go, so that was likely defective (my two sticks of BLT8G3D1608ET3LX0 RAM were brand new and I tried them together in A1 and B1, then tried each individually in all 4 slots) and no dice.

This time around, I didn't see any broken pins and it's still not detecting either stick of RAM. I highly doubt that they're defective, because I tried another type of RAM in my last Extreme4 and that still didn't work. I also know that these are guaranteed to work in this mobo by Crucial.

So the question is: Is it possible that I got another defective motherboard? Or could it be the CPU? (I bought an i5-3570k OEM on eBay used and attached a Cooler Master Hyper 212, and the fan is spinning, but I'm not sure how to tell if the CPU is working). Could the error code 53 be from a defective CPU? I really would hate to take it apart again because I worry about breaking the board each time I take out the screws and cooler parts. I never thought that building a computer would take weeks and be this frustrating.

Do you have or can you borrow a different stick, if it doesn't work then either mobo or CPU, if it does work then it may be a problem with the sticks and the BIOS, could take that stick if it works and update the BIOS, depending on the mobo, it may not have updates to run low voltage sticks correctly

I used a 4GB stick of DDR3 1333 from a computer I'm about to sell, and that didn't work on the last Z77 Extreme4 I had. I do have another 8GB stick of Crucial DDR3 1600 (not low profile), but I don't want to open it since I plann on selling it and it'll lower the resell value.

Just tried and no luck. Same code: 53. It looks like I might need to bring it somewhere and see if they can test what needs to be replaced.

Prob going to be mobo or CPU and with this the second mobo, sort of lean towards CPU...one thing you migh try, is to loosen the CPU heatsink, may be on to tight, and if you can just have it snug, many tighten these down to much and/or in an unbalanced set so more pressure is on one side of the CPU or the other, which can affect how it contacts the pins
