was going to buy a laptop bt the haswell series is out
what to do wait for it to arrive or go with 3rd gen

wen will it arrive in laptops in India

and would thr be much of difference in price??

I would say wait for Haswell to arrive in India (Nothing is known about it) and then buy Ivy Bridge (Their prices would get lowered).

There is 10% performance difference between Ivy and Haswell. So if you want to buy one right now and don't mind saving later on, get Ivy Bridge. Haswell is not worth the waiting as you won't see that much performance improvements when you consider higher costs.

Also things come very late in India as you can see, it might take 2 - 3 months to 6 months ...

What does battery life have to do with a desktop PC?

Edit: Didn't read the question fully :D

Laptop actually. Read thread title. :)

@hafijur - Yeah battery life should be increased significantly with Haswell .. I hope not cost as things in India are already very expensive.

I am also from India, you can tell me the budget in Rupees, and for what purposes you need the laptop for that is for Gaming or General Multimedia Consumption, etc..

Since i am from India, i think that i can understand the situation more than say someone from USA. Just tell me the budget and requirements and the use of the Laptop.

I am also from New Delhi, India. :)

For anyone interested in the Intel® Iris™ Pro graphics 5200 core, the least powerful / expensive mobile CPU that has it is the i7-4750HQ. The recommended price per Intel's site is $440. As a comparison, the i7-4700MQ has a recommended price of $383 which has the typical Intel HD 4600 graphics core.

http://ark.intel.com/products/series/75115

The trick is finding a laptop that offers the i7-4750HQ CPU.

n yeah plz give me some gud value for money stuff

i5 would do

the one u would have bought

n yeah cons with samsung
shall i go with it

n yeah thnx

Double RAM and Core i7 3630QM (You have 4 GB and i5)

And Samsung is a very good brand for laptops too. It is kind of universal all rounder which sells everything you would ever want in terms of technology and household stuff.

Also, Iris Pro 5200 is not available in India as Haswell did not arrived in India yet (For Laptops).
We are still stuck with Ivy Bridge.

If 5200 would be available, I would certainly suggest it. Its the best IGP one can find from Intel and is literally a beast.

Well it's true that the Iris Pro 5200 iGP On the Haswell Laptops will be a monster iGP. But those laptops will be priced along the lines of the laptops with Discrete Graphic Cards. And also very few laptops will come with that iGP. And also it takes up a lot of power so it won't be possible to combine it with a Discrete Graphic Card. Also it won't promise the battery life that was expected because of the power requirements.

And also the iGP is at the level of a GT 640M and NOT GT 650M. So you won't be able to play latest and upcoming games on Ultra settings. U only will be able to play on medium to high settings which is okay for moderate gamers but not for Hardcore gamers.

Well any ways I'm also waiting as it does take a while for New processors to come out in the market in numbers. And hopefully the price of these laptops will be comparable to previous generation ivy Bridge laptops else it will not be possible to buy it. And also among the latest laptops released with the new i7-4700MQ processor, the LENOVO IDEAPAD Y510P looks the best in specs and price. And hopefully it will be priced competitively in India too!!!

P.S. Richland based Lenovo laptops are also available in India. Lenovo Essentials G505s with A10-5750M and integrated 8650g AMD Radeon Graphics abd 8570M Dedicated Graphics. But if you can hold out for 6 months then the Next gen AMD KAVERI APU'S ARE coming which will revolutionize gaming as similar hardware is used in PS4 and XBOX ONE (Next-gen consoles). With hUMA (heterogeneous Unified Memory Access) and Steamroller Cores based on 28nm, it should provide some hefty competition to the Gaming Laptops segment.

hey

actualy thinking hp nw

i5 3230m 4gb 1tb

doubt is 1gb graphics or 2gb graphic
7670m

n 8380m both with 1gb and 2gb

would it affect??

as some sites said 1gb n 2gb doest have much difference with 7670m

HD 7670M is said to be a fairly low end video card but benchmarks have shown it deliver some decent FPS on medium - high settings in games like Witcher II, Battlefield 3, etc. Even maxing out DMC 4 but I guess that is due to more powerful CPU.

Also, its processing power ends before it is able to utilize another 1 GB so that does not make much difference (You got that right).

Between HD 7670M and 8380M you should rather choose the former.

Well what are your primary tasks? If they are gaming and multitasking then I'll consider the G6-2320tx as it has a better i5 processor (3230m vs 3210m) than the probook 4540s and also a better GPU (7670M DDR3 VS 7470M gDDR5).

And also you are getting 1 TB Hard-Disk in the Pavilion. Else the specs are pretty much the same.

Have the 2320tx and have used it extensively. It is a very good machine but the trackpad is not the best. Still its very good. But it's a little thick and the probook is sleek and stylish. If you want sleek looks and portability and don't care much about gaming, then go for the probook. Else the pavilion.

BTW have you considered the following models?

1) Lenovo Essentials G505s (at Rs. 37,990) :
http://www.flipkart.com/m/lenovo-essential-g505s-59-380146-laptop-apu-quad-core-a10-8gb-1tb-dos-2-5gb-graph/p/itmdm79dbkjzewwk?pid=COMDM799ZGJTXAVT&fromSearch=true&otracker=search

2) Samsung NP350V5X-S01IN (at Rs. 38,520) :
http://www.flipkart.com/m/samsung-np350v5x-s01in-laptop-3rd-gen-ci5-4gb-500gb-dos-2gb-graph/p/itmdk6ybebthyjzt?pid=COMDK6Y9NHD8H8RX&fromSearch=true&otracker=search

3) Samsung NP370R5E-S05IN (at Rs. 40,990) :
http://www.flipkart.com/m/samsung-np370r5e-s05in-laptop-3rd-gen-ci5-6gb-1tb-win8-2gb-graph/p/itmdk6yb2yhvnc94?pid=COMDK6Y9JNHY9G8V&fromSearch=true&otracker=search

4) Samsung NP350V5C-S07IN ( at Rs. 42,990) :
http://www.flipkart.com/m/samsung-np350v5c-s07in-laptop-3rd-gen-ci5-4gb-1-tb-win8-2gb-graph/p/itmdeh2tfvzwepeb?pid=COMDEH2SKGQJEFFC&fromSearch=true&otracker=search

If you want Windows 8 and the best-in-class specs at the best price, then I'll recommend the NP370R5E-S05IN and it is also very slim and light-weight (~2 kg).

Hope this helps.

Thanks for asking.

Well they are emerging very well in the laptop market too. Check out the reviews for this samsung laptop:
Samsung NP550P5C - S05IN :
http://www.flipkart.com/m/samsung-np550p5c-s05in-laptop-3rd-gen-ci7-8gb-1tb-win8-2gb-graph/p/itmdhwrq5xguxyvz?pid=COMDHWZXFAW7FM4X&fromSearch=true&otracker=search

It's one of the best laptops on flipkart. The reason why samsung laptops are emerging is because of their price. They are giving some of the best specs at the best price. Even I'm thinking of buying the Samsung laptop that I suggested you earlier (NP370R5E - S05IN) as its specs are too good and also comes with an anti reflective display. The only downside is that it lacks an optical disk drive. But u can buy an external dvd reader+writer for less than 2k. And nowadays you don't really use dvds that much.

HavE almost finalized the above mentioned laptop (NP370R5E - S05IN ) as it fits my specs list and also my budget. And I'm also buying an external dvd reader+writer from flipkart:

Transcend Slim Portable CD/DVD Writer:
http://www.flipkart.com/m/transcend-slim-portable-cd-dvd-writer-black/p/itmczzca8dah3y5f?pid=ACCCZZC9UZK9GZZS&fromSearch=true&otracker=search

Well in the end its up to you. But the advantages with the Samsung model are its weight (2 kg), slimness (~23 mm), specs, price, and finally display and graphics. But if you want the HP one it's an excellent laptop too but the graphic card is not as good as the Samsung's.

Hope it helped. Even I'm doing research on laptops as my old laptop (The HP 2320TX was my sister's laptop) gave out last month. So we're both in a similar situation. But I think the Samsung Laptop should satisfy my needs and hope it turns out a good buy. And I also hope you buy your laptop which suits your needs the most.

Thanks.
