I have a problem with Windows 8 where I will be connected to my network but it will add a number after it. For example my network is called Bobs Network, but under the Network and Sharing Center it will show as Bobs Network 5. Any idea as to what the 5 could mean?

It's the fifth instance/way it's connected to the network. Usually happens if you have both ethernet and WiFi connected, or move between WAPs that are on the same network.
