Board Manufacturer RAM Compatibility List Outdated

All,

I have an EVGA P55 SLI Board (yes, old): http://www.evga.com/support/motherboard/

All of the RAM compatibility on their site lists RAM ID's that are years old and no longer sold. Absent a supported memory spec- is it common that I would buy a standard 2x4GB set for a P55 board and have any issues? I'm guessing not, far too many positive reviews on newegg for that to be true- but a little apprehensive and wanted to check.

Thanks!

  1. as long as you're using DDR3 RAM, you shouldn't have a problem :P

Those are only sticks that they tested when it first came out. I haven't seen any compatibility issues with DDR3, just make sure the speed and voltages are supported.
  3. No way the MB manufacturer will test all the RAM. So as long as you buy the standard and good brand RAM then you will be fine.
Like the link from newegg.com either one is fine. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007611%20600006069&IsNodeId=1&page=7&bop=And&CompareItemList=147%7C20%2D233%2D144%5E20%2D233%2D144%2DTS%2C20%2D231%2D666%5E20%2D231%2D666%2DTS
