What's the best CPU/Motherboard for gaming and SLI, for around 300 dollars?

I built my first computer with lower priced components, knowing I would upgrade them later. Here is a list of what I have now: PCPartPicker

Playing Planetside 2, my FPS goes anywhere from 60 as a high, and drops to 25 under extreme conditions. I am looking to increase my gaming performance to where it stays above 30-40 FPS minimum, and averages over 60.

My Phenom is not the best CPU, and I want something like an Intel i5. Also, I already have a GTX 650ti Boost, and can get another one for about $140 at a later time (That GPU was just purchased, and I am not selling it or spending 300 dollars on a new one). I would like to SLI that card to match similar gaming FPS like this: GTX 650ti Boost SLI

So what would be my best option for just the CPU/Mobo if I want to SLI at a later date?

If Asus didnt put that ugly gold scheme on it i would agree but an Extreme6/4670K for 334 is a steal

Here you go:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($239.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: ASRock Z87 Extreme6 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($174.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $334.98
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

If you really want to keep it at 300$, you'd better wait for the MSI Z87 G45 gaming to come back to Newegg( which is 30$ cheaper than the Extreme6 from Asrock, while still supports SLI ). There's a 80$ discount for 4670k+ Z87 Gaming combo also, but sadly Newegg ran out of stock on that board at the moment.

Yeah, thats a little more than I would want to be at for a price, and the color is just ugly.

Not a bad motherboard, I like the Xfast features of my current motherboard from Asrock. I don't quite have the money yet, and I would like to see a blue motherboard from MSI to match my GPU's and color.

Have to inform you that MSI isn't introducing high-end boards with blue theme atm :p  And the 80$ discount is ending soon. 10$ more for the blue Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H maybe?

It doesn't *have* to be blue, I just don't want odd colors like red or gold. 180 for a motherboard for this system is a little high, I'm looking to keep the whole thing under 350 dollars at this point.

Yes, but not very high with the discount kicks in. Under 350$ then:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($239.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($186.13 @ Newegg)
Total: $346.12
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)
