I am building a mini-itx system soon, and am on a tight budget ($700). I will be doing gaming, internet browsing, and a little video editing. In this budget, I assumed I would be going with an i3-3220, but then I found the fm2 x4 750k. Would that be a better option for me? I will be doing overclocking if I got that chip, as I was going to upgrade to an i5/i7 later on and overclock then, too.?

I think the i3 3220 is almost on par with the 750k on multithreaded tasks and much much faster then the 750k in singlethreaded ones. Also it is much better at gaming. So better get the 3220 for now and upgrade to an i5 or i7 later on..

Yeah but since the GPU is mostly important in gaming going with an APU with a superior GPU would be the smarter choice instead of single threaded perf.

Maybe the guy is buying a discrete gpu if not then yes an apu is a superior option.

I have a 3220 in my land party build and a HD7950 , i get the same frames in most games as my overclocked i7 940 @ 4.4Ghz. really it comes down to the games you play. the lack of L3 cach on the 750k hurts in games.
