The Crossfired 7970 will be superior to the 7990 albeit with more power consumption. I think that the Titan is a bit too overpriced and I would go with the GTX 780 as a jack of all trades. SLI GTX 770 or 7970s can be better in several titles than the former, but both AMD's Crossfire and nVdia's SLI have problems such as Micro-stuttering (more present in AMD), size, heat and perhaps power costs if you run it quite alot.

I think that the 780 is better in general when it comes to practicality. The Titan was able to outrun two GTX 680s in SLI in Hitman: Absolution and the 780 is not far behind, the 760 will have the edge, but SLI is not perfect and has its flaws.

760 SLI is a good 18% faster then an overclocked 780 and 21% faster then a stock titan while costing 150 dollars and 500 dollars less respectively.

Crossfire is still a mess. I wouldnt even consider it till that new driver comes out in a month

I must agree that Crossfire is still very lacking, MICROSTTUTTERING AHOY! The only issue I see with the 760 is practicality when SLI, as it can have quite different results across the many games around. But today's games are generally going to take advantage of SLI and CF (If the drivers fix it lol) and the 760 alone is still in GTX 670 range, so you do have a very good point.

Microstuttering is in people's heads more than in real life.

A bit late, but 13.8 fixed the problem. +1 For Dual 7970s.

Well the 7990 was just announced under 700$ a couple of minutes ago. So if you're in for the 7990 it's a good time now. Also the Titan is still about 1,150-1,200$, so you can actually ALMOST get two 7990's foor the same price.

7970's CF is good too, but a couple of days ago it was 299$ on amazon. But now it's 319$ so no major loss. I just don't like the temps on my 7970s.

Get what you want, but if you're going for 7970's don't go for the highest clocked cards, get the ones with the best cooler. In which case, the Gigabyte editions. Unless you're watercooling.

That's exatly the sAme card I have in crossfire. Im running 5760x1080. Take crysis 2 for example. 15 minutes into gameplay and the top card is at 80*C. And I have great airflow in my HAF 922. It's definetely a good cooler, but not the best on the market.

fixed the micro-stutter problem on single displays only, at a cost of more cpu usage and lower dual gpu scaling. So still a no for crossfire .
