Hi

I am building my new gaming/music rig next week,i have all parts ready but before i confirm it all i would like to ask 1 of you about my PSU,i have a 600w lined up but have been told i dont need anywhere near that and 500w should be more than enough.

Can anyone confirm this?

The build is

i5 3470 3.2ghz
8gb Ram
XFX Radeon 2gb 7870 Double Dissipation Edition

My PSU is http://www.scan.co.uk/products/600w-silverstone-strider...

Having a larger capacity unit doesn't hurt but you should be fine with a 500W unit for your build. The XFX Core Edition PRO550W is currently $40 after rebate at Newegg and is a great buy.

whats the psu for this build. Cheaper ones might not have enough amps on the 12v rails which is why the recommended wattage can be a little high.

The silverstone is a quality psu and work well for your build.

I'd rather get this: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/550w-psu-xfx-core-editio... Better quality Psu for less money. Less overall wattage, but that's made up by being a better quality brand.
