I have a 7950 and a CX500w, im looking forward to overclock it soon, will it need additional amps? The 7950 reference stock speeds require 30 amps or greater. The CX has +12V@38A

Solution
It draws more power and thus more amps when overclocked, yes. But you can't really rely on the official requirements. They're not accurate. And they incorporate an assumed power draw from the rest of your system, in addition to the graphics card.

As long as your CPU isn't very power-hungry, the CX500 is sufficient.

Here is Guru3D's power supply recommendation:

Radeon HD 7950 - On your average system the card requires you to have a 500 Watt power supply unit.
Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire - On your average system the cards require you to have a 700 Watt power supply unit as minimum.

If you are going to overclock GPU or processor, then we do recommend you purchase something with some more stamina.
