Games refuse to stay in full screen

I have been recently suffering from a very annoying problem. Every single game i try to play in full screen mode it will flicker like i just alt tabbed and start running in a window or minimize to the taskbar. It is very annoying and the only way i can get it to stay in full screen is by spamming the alt tab shortcut until it decides to go black screen and then switch to the game full screen which then it will stay. If i alt tab again for any reason i have to repeat my processa till it stays again and this process can take anywhere from 10 secs all the way up to several mins.

Please help me

Pop ups no, but i do have other stuff running like msi afterburner and other driver stuff

The symptom you're describing sounds like something else trying to take the focus but I can't see it being afterburner. Have you installed any new apps/utilities recently? Worth taking a look at what's in your startup in msconfig and any running processes.
