Hi guys I've been thinking about building a PC for about a year now. I'm a game design student and looking for a spec that has a lot of rendering power. I'm on a tight budget of £800-£1000. I've already got a screen so I only need the main stuff. Preferably want to stay as far away from £1000 as possible.

CPU: Intel i7 4770 3.4GHZ (Not looking to overclock)
GPU: Nvidia GTX 660 2GB/760 2GB (EVGA)
Case: NZXT Phantom 410 Midi Tower
PSU: Corsair CP-9020063-UK 2013 Edition GS 700W
RAM: 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHZ
SSD: SanDisk SDSSDX-120G-G25 Extreme 120GB SATA 6GB/s 7200rpm 2.5 Inch Internal SSD
HDD: Seagate 1TB 7200RPM
Motherboard: (I'm a bit unsure about this part if I'm honest)
Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 Intel Z87 Socket 1150 Motherboard
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/gigabyte-ga-z87-hd3-intel-z87-s-1150-ddr3-sata-iii-6gb-s-sata-raid-pcie-30-(x16)-d-sub-(vga)-dvi-d-h

Asus Z87-K Intel Z87 Socket 1150 Motherboard

Really need guidance on the motherboard.

So what do you guys think of the build? Any recommendations or changes?

Solution
Definitely won't need a PSU with more watts that 550 unless you plan to SLI in the future. Can't answer for why other's pick PSUs with wattage that's overkill - it may be incase they plan to upgrade in future, as said.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I thought about getting the 4770k but I've been reading that there isn't much point unless you're going to overclock it. I don't think I should down grade to a i5 because I need a lot of rendering power for my game design work.

If you need the 4770, then by all means, but you won't need the Z87 board, go for a H87 board instead.

Hey guys, I've got another question and this one is about power supply. I was on PCPartpicker.com and it says that my build will only consume around 340Watts. I've been considering buying the 550-600Watt PSU instead of the 700W psu I initially chose. In tutorials and pc builds on that I've seen, people tend to buy around 600-700W psu's for builds which are less intense than mine which is something that's starting to raise curiosity. Any ideas on what this is all about?
