Windows 7 Boot Problem

When I boot my computer, it passes BIOS successfully every time, however when it get's to the Windows 7 'Welcome Screen', there is about a 25% chance it won't go through to Desktop. Instead it would just completely freeze up and then the screen would react in such a way that it seems there was a display driver error, then completely go off and never turn on again.

The other 75% of the time when it passes the 'Welcome Screen' the desktop would start to boot up as normal, and then after about 30 seconds, crash in the same way it does on the Welcome Screen sometimes. Completely unresponsive with a black screen. Also the computer may reboot at this point, but not all the time. The computer would 99% of the time not reach desktop if ethernet was plugged in.

I can persist with several reboots until the desktop completely boots and everything is working fine, however the computer wouldn't recognize my ethernet which was plugged in.

I've tried the obvious in that being updating my display drivers, rolling back etc.

I've tried solutions from other people who recommended:

  • Removing RAM for 30 seconds and then reinserting.
Pulling the power cord out and draining capacitors
    Resetting BIOS
    Removing CMOS Battery and replacing
    Reaseating motherboard
    Complete rebuilt of computer

And nothing has fixed my dilemma.

I was wondering if anybody had a possible diagnostic as to what is causing this problem with my computer? Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

I've blown a PSU in the past month, I don't know if this is relevant.

Specs of my machine are:
ASUS M5A78L-M LX V2 Motherboard
AMD FX-4100 CPU
HIS Radeon 6770
8GB Kingston 1333Mhz RAM
600W PSU (Can't remember brand, will find out if need be)
