It will run BF3 on High, not Ultra. I say this cuz you chose a 7870. If you get a 760 you'll run BF3 on Ultra and maxed out(no doubt). Also, BF4 comes out in November so you'll need a little beefier GPU, and the 760 is great for $250 range.

This build is the same price as yours but it has a much better GPU, a cooler for overclocking, and an incredible PSU on sale. Also, switched out the motherboard for a different Gigabyte board.

It can run BF3 on ultra. http://www.anandtech.com/show/7103/nvidia-geforce-gtx-760-review/10
While an Nvidia card is better for BF3, the HD7870 can run the game in ultra, make no mistake

BF3: Ultra, maxed out settings, 1920x1080:
760 gets 70fps
7870 gets 50fps

People want to game with 4xMSAA, not FXAA.

The goal is to reach 60fps, so the 760 clearly does so. And it exceeds 60fps which makes me believe it will handle BF4 much better than the 7870.

Also, I changed the OP's build and included a 760 at the original price of the build.

What are you talking about? The links I gave also show they test using MSAA and it gives playable framerates. As I said before, I agree an Nvidia card is better for BF3, but the HD7870 can also max the game. Let's not forget, BF4 will be more optimized for AMD cards. Plus, the HD7870 also comes with 3/4 games.

However, I don't think OP will be disappointed with any of the cards really. I just wanted to show that BF3 max is playable with the HD7870.

Originally there was talk about AMD optimizing it's GPUs for BF4, but later this turned out to be false. Nvidia will get the game before it is released so Nvidia can "optimize" the GPUs too.

This is the chart I got my info from:

The builder, toaztr, asked about BF3. I'm helping him build a desktop that will play that game maxed out w/ the standard 60fps goal. (Gamers want 60fps, not 50fps)
