I just orderd a Corasair H70 for a great price, mainly because my Thermaltake Frio Advanced takes up to much space, and in not allowing me to use an intake fan over my graphics card. My question is is there a way to stop a leak right when it happens even if you are not there to monitor your computer. Would it be smart to put duct tape or electrical tape over the fittings? I know that the fail rate of closed-loop water coolers are slim, but I don't want to destroy my new 7970.

Yes, you could add your own tape or such items around fittings to be extra sure, I would probably do the same thing. I would say tape a layer or 2 of paper towels around the fittings then tape over them. It wont be very noticeable and shouldn't get in the way, or prevent cooling.
