Which computer will perform better?

Hi all,

I have a computer I plan to buy out on PCPartPicker and a computer on Craigslist. Which of the computers will play games better @ 1920x1080 resolution? I'm almost 100% sure it's the build on part picker, however will either play games @ 1920x1080 decent or should I look into something different? If I get the part picker build I plan on using the APU for graphics.

Thanks.

I would go with your build. There are several advantages to your build (better cpu, better memory bandwidth, upgrade path), if it struggles in your games you can always add a discrete GPU to your build.

The person that listed that computer doesn't seem to know much about it. "Dual SLI Cards -- ATI Radeon HD 4870" tells me that they don't know the basics. SLI=nVidia, Crossfire=ATI/AMD

Lol right. AMD's new APU's just do not work for gaming as of now. Even with an extra card for hybrid crossfire, they get microstuttering like crazy. I used to run hybrid crossfire, but I've upgraded to a 7850, which is massively bottlenecked by the CPU's weak cores and lack of L3 cache. In this scenario, neither of the builds are ideal, so waiting and getting something current would be the best bet IMO.

Hybrid crossfire doesn't work very well. I don't recommend it even when you have a card that you can use it with. I would NEVER EVER recommend someone spending money on an athlon 64 x2 in this day and age. Either save up or grab the 5800k then a new gpu later on. I know the gpu of the 5800k isn't anything amazing but I Just CAN'T justify a system that old as to upgrade any of it he would need a completely new system.

WITH THAT SAID. I might recommend a cheap AM3+ board + phenom 2 x4 (or cheaper if need be) + 4gb of ram (for now) and a cheap GPU such as a 6670 ddr5 or a 7750 ddr3. If you can't afford even that then save up your money.

Agreed, neither are optimal, but if its what the OP can afford and wants, then the one he specced is stronger. Both lack L3 cache, but with better memory bandwidth, more cores and newer architecture, the A10 should be the stronger of the two. Also, I wasn't talking about hybrid crossfire, I was talking about running a discrete GPU with the IGP disabled. From the benchmarks I've seen, hybrid crossfire doesn't offer much, even when working properly.

This, and how he says that the PSU is "SLI certified" is balls, more than likely a nice cheap PSU that will blow given a chance to. Just build your own.
