I just built my new pc and i am using my old hdd. I've put windows 8 on a usb and wanted to install with it. The problem is that when i start the win installation wizard i cannot select a partition to install the system on. It says "Windows cannot be instralled to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."
What can i do? The HDD has 3 partitions but the second and third has data that i cant erase (valuable to me). The new pc uses the MSI z87 g45 mobo.
I am currently writting from my HTPC.
Is there a solution or must i buy a new disk?

Thank you!

  1. Copy the data to another drive (e.g. your HTPC) and then erase it.

You might be able to set your BIOS to boot from an MBR, but it's slower.
