So i have a Phenom II x6 1045T from 2.7 to 3.4 stable and just bumped it to 3.7, started up prime95 and blue screen right away. I really would like a GHz overclock. So can i put a little more voltage and that will do it? Voltage is at 1.4210 and thinking of going to 1.4216 or more? I admit i don't have the best cooler, Cooler Master Geminii M4(getting a better one soon) is it my cooler? Temps are at 44c same as when at 3.4GHz. The FSB frequency is at 275 and the CPU ratio is 13.5 (highest it will go) and CPU NB is at 8 and my RAM is at 1836 and can go up to 1866. My mobo is an MSI 970A-G46... any help would be great and please be kind i am in every word a noob at overclocking. ^.^

Do NOT push that motherboard. It can blow up and take out your CPU/PSU with it.
ofc..4th of july is coming up..and they do go off like firecrackers..hmm :pt1cable:
In all seriousness;Get a better motherboard if you want to overclock a Thuban.
They draw around 177w when overclocked so..If the board can't handle that..it will fail.

Avoid for OC=Yes

But.. But... T.T
i got it down at 3.5 stable, ran prime95 for about 2 hours, highest temp was 66c
:(  so sad as i was really hoping for a GHz overclock on this chip... but hey 3.5 is good right? :D

....and i checked and it doesn't say avoid for OC it just says avoid the 8 core as it causes throttling which i already knew :p

I figured it out and all i did was bump the volts up by a bit from 1.2 to 1.4 and got my CPU a GHz overclocked! :D  happy guy now!
