I'm running a 4770k with an H60, along with a GTX 780. The system runs great and the GPU temps are fairly normal under load, and at idle. What I'm wondering about is my 4770k temps. At idle it runs around 30-40 degrees Celsius. At max load it gets to around 60-80 degrees Celsius. Now I'm thinking thats good for an H60 for now, until I upgrade to an H100(i). How much heat can the 4770k take before it experiences issues and overheats? (The CPU is running at 4.2GHz at the moment, thinking of bumping it up to 4.4GHz soon.) Any tips would be appreciated.

The H60 comes far from matching the performance of the better air coolers and even the H100 beats the Phanteks by only 1/2 degree C but at great cost in noise.

I try and keep my temps below 72C average but will tolerate 76 or so on a single core under artificial torture testing utilities like OCCT and P95

Haswell runs hotter than Sandy and Ivy Bridge. The i7-4770k throttles itself at 90C and has a TJmax of 100C. Your temperatures are typical. My 4770k is on a Hyper 212 EVO air cooler (between the H60 and H80 water coolers in cooling performance) and runs at 35C idle and 65C at load (GW2 can get it a bit hotter though).
The difference between the H60 and the H100i is huge. If you have an average chip, you should be able to get up to 4.6-4.7 GHz with an H100i.
