Hi all, I am putting together my first build and can't decide on which 2x8gb kit to get. I already have a 4770k and an Asus z87-pro. Planning on getting a gtx 770 for the video card. I plan on doing work (excel, ppt, word, etc), high end gaming, and photoshop with the build. So here are my choices so far (willing to consider any other suggestions):

$160

G.skill Ripjaw X 2133 CAS 9: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

G.skill Trident X 2400 CAS 10: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

G.skill Trident X 1866 CAS 8: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

$150

G.skill Ripjaw Z 1866 CAS 9: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I'd get these .... all of your picks are high profile

RAM - $140 - (2 x 8GB) Muskin CAS 9 DDR3-1866 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

comes with $25 hawken game coupon

will be using corsair h100i or kraken x60 to cool so wont have to worry about the high profile unless i am missing something. thanks for the suggestion, i will consider it!

For all the same price the easy winner is the 16GB 2400's

Tridents are killer sticks, have 32GB in my Z77, Ripjaws X would be next choice, the RJ Z set is 1866/CL9 so would be under-performing opposed to the Trident 1866 at CL 8

May depend on the budget, the 1866's will generally run 2133 at CL 9 with 1.65, however, may have trouble taking them higher, I love the 2400s (and use just about all 32GB at times, so the extra bandwith really comes in handy), on my P67 I've got 32GB of 2133/9 Ripjaws X, but for the haevy DRAM intensive action, I normally stick those tasks on the Tridents....will be building a Haswell soon, the mobo makers seem to be getting the BIOS sort of straight, and am planning the 2800/11 Tridents in 32GB

Any of those first 3 kits will be a great fit. Trident X series RAM can not be beat.

Thank you

Hey Tradesman I just bought the 2400s cas 10 but I hear of people purchasing them with cas 9. I was gonna buy the 2133s cas 9 but I decided on the 2400s based on all the positive reviews. Now that i have done even more research im finding out that the cas spead is very important for gaming and I just hope I didnt gimp my 780ti/4770k im building in a couple of days/ =(

You'll be fine with 2400 and CL10, I run the 32GB 2400/10 set on my IB rig and it also runs great on my Haswell (in sig), should be happy with them, if any problems, give me a shout
