Improving the CM 212+ heatsink?

I noticed while I was fiddling around with my overclock that the air being drawn through the fins of my CM 212+ is rather low compared to how much is being put out by the fan. Is it advisable to somehow secure the area between the fan and the aluminum fins to direct airflow better? I know people would recommend a push/pull but it seems like efficiency would still be lacking because of the open sides. Any suggestions?

He wanted more air to be blown on the fins as he found it to be "lacking" with the air being pulled through the fins when compared to the air being pushed out.

Flipping it around will do just that.

Is aluminum tape alright to use on or around a heatsink? My 212 doesn't have the metal clips but the black plastic hooks, and the fan it came with has a padding between it and the heatsink to have a firm fit or it would loosely attach.

I thought about the noise issue but I hadn't thought about how harmonics would affect things. I guess the only thing to do is close the open space on the sides that lies between the fins and the actual fan. I suggested aluminum tape but I'd like to hear other suggestions. I'm not entire sure aluminum tape wouldn't cause static build up and frying my system so it may be out of the question.
