Computer Freezes at Startup!!

My computer will start booting normally, then at random points in the startup, it will be like a switch was flipped: the boot will suddenly stop making progress. whatever was on the screen will not change, and the fans will start going crazy blowing at max speed while the temperature of the machine increases gradually (I can feel the temperature slowly increase from outside). To clarity, i'm pretty sure the temp isn't the problem. It only starts heating up after the startup stop progressing. Help please!! Thanks in advance!

Oh! I forgot to mention that it sometimes makes it through startup (rarely) but eventually it will freeze and everything starts heating up and the fans go max speed. It is a very inconsistent reoccurring problem.

It's running on a fresh windows 7 install. Nothing installed except the necessary drivers. I don't know how hot it's getting because it only starts heating up post-freeze so I can't check anything

tried it.. happened with both sticks. also a new thing: when the computer enters the freeze, if it happens before the boot starts, the power will pulse a little bit, accelerating the fans a little every second or so
