The stock cooler will do it's job if you DON'T overclock at all. Thats what it was designed for, stock clocks. However, Intel coolers are known to not be the best so if you feel more comfortable with the 212 EVO then by all means go ahead and get it. It's a fantastic cooler for the price and it would allow for some moderate overclocking in the future if you so desired.
Thanks. Will the i7 3770K be seeing a price cut now that 4th gen Haswell CPUs are out? Just curious if I will still be able purchase it in December and if it will be cheaper. Also, if I simply put the i7 in the computer and didn't change anything in the BIOS, will I still be able to use 8 threads? Thanks!
If you're doing a lot of rendering the 3770k is the way to go, if you're mostly gaming the 3570k will be adequate for light rendering.
The 3770k will not be seeing a dramatic price cut, it already got it's "dramatic" price cut...all of $9. That's just the way Intel does things.
If you're going to OC the 3570k should probably be fine. Note: you need a Z77 board to OC your 3570k, so if your board is not a Z77 board, then you will not be able to overclock. This may change things for you in your build...not sure what the rest of your system looks like.
