A couple weeks ago when I was using my computer, I noticed firefox kept crashing randomly, and while playing a game (Guild Wars 2) the game kept crashing with memory errors or other errors and saying the files were corrupt.
I ran memtest overnight and it came back with errors on a couple tests, one saying it had the maximum number of errors (65000+?). So I thought my ram was broken.
I tried putting the first stick only in slot 2 and just using my computer like normal, when suddenly my computer locked up completely and I heard a high pitched noise coming from my speakers. When I tried to turn my computer back on, there was no display on the monitor. I then moved the stick to the first ram slot and tried again, and my computer booted like normal.
I've run memtest several times, with each stick on its own in each of the 4 slots, and with them together, in slots 1 & 2 and in slots 3 & 4. the only times I've had errors show up is when I had both sticks in the original 1 & 2 slots, which is where they were when the problems started. I havent had errors show up when I test each stick individually.
Could it still be a ram problem? or something else? i hope that made sense.. thanks for any help!
oh I forgot to mention my computer has been working fine for over 2 years before this problem started.
