Hello, I have a question regarding RAM compatibility when adding RAM to a system. In my current rig, I have this RAM:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004GUT33K/?tag=pcpapi-20

It is Patriot Memory Division 2 Viper XTreme DDR3 4gb (2x2gb) PC3-12800 1600MHz 1.65v 8-9-8-24 timing memory. It is currently occupying 2 of my 4 ram slots on my motherboard. I want to add another 2 modules (another 2x2gb or 2x4gb), and I am wondering if all the specs have to be exactly the same. For example, in the remaining two slots, could I add two 4gb, 1600MHz sticks of a different brand- say, Corsair? Does it matter if the voltage is the same (it seems that 1.5v is more common than 1.65v)? What about the timing?
Would any of these memory modules be compatible?

If not, could you suggest some that would be compatible? Thanks.

Solution
It's never a good idea to mix sets of DRAM, even of the same exact model, it can be problematic...and require manual setup, (base timings, DRAM voltage, MC voltage, and in particular Advance timings (as XMP doesn't work with mixed sets...XMP is programmed by the set, i.e. 2x4GB may require a tRFC of 128, with two of those sets it may require a tRFC of 208....your BIOS may or may not be ready for this and able to make adjustments, but not always, and with the 1150, it may be awhile before they are.

If you do try, the preferred would be a second set of the same model

Okay, I'll probably just buy some 8gig ram to replace the 4gigs I have, then. Maybe this?
