I recently moved to pc and next-gen consoles are coming out. Since they have a monthly subscription for online gaming. Pc is the only way to go. I am looking for a sub $600 gaming pc. And I am ONLY GAMING.

$600 budget to compete with the next gen consoles? Hmm, keep saving. A gaming PC is only as good as the budget that you have, and for $600 you'll have a pretty basic machine (maybe a bit better then current gen consoles.) When you hit around $1000 - $1250 mark you'll be happier and have a much better build.

This is a rough outline for costs of PC parts. I'll assume you already have a Mouse, Keyboard and Monitor.

CPU (depending on brand, either AMD or Intel) $200 - ish.
Motherboard (Again, general price, not specific to any brand): $200 -ish (for higher quality models anyhow)
Case (general price, not specific to any brand): $60 - $100
Power Supply (general price, not specific to any brand but higher end): $80 - $120
Hard Drive (SSD, always good for a boot drive): $100 - $150.
Hard Drive (mechanical 1TB or so): $80
OS License: $120 or so
Memory: $60 (for high quality and higher capacity, say 8 GB)
Minimal budget: $900

Not including whatever you would spend on a graphics card. So your budget just isn't there, yet.

you can build a solid gaming machine for around $600. no need to spend 200 on a motherboard. a decent power supply can be had for much less than 80. also no need for an SSD. and lastly, a GPU might be a good thing to add to the list, considering this is a gaming machine.
i have no idea why you think the "minimum" gaming machine would cost $840...

The site you quoted, even $750 is considered budget, not gaming. The problem with using the term "gaming machine" is that it's really subjective to the standards of the person using it. For me, I guess my standards are just higher than yours? I don't know.

But for ME the minimum gaming would be.

3570K Proc
Z77 Motherboard
CM Hyper 212+ or better (maybe liquid cooling)
Minimum 650W Corsair PSU (preferably modular)
8 GB DDR3 1866
Decent Case (Antec 302 is a good starting point)
120 GB SSD Drive for bootup and primary apps
1 TB Sata III mechanical drive for music and steam backups
Windows 7 OEM
And a Nvidia video card (I think the new 760's look pretty good, price is decent).

No way you're getting that for under $1200. If you can, I salute you.

how can you be so sure when the console and corresponding PC ports hasn't even come out yet? besides, over the 10-year long potential lifespan of next gen consoles, one would need to dump in another $1-2k overtime for upgrades. if the base budget is only $600, then some of the parts (PSU etc) will probably die and need to be replaced as well.

ultimately, even with monthly sub fees, consoles are the cheap gamer's friend.

Yea, right, 10 years. Please inform me the number of consoles you saw that are still working normally after 10 years. As for performance a HD7870 and a 6/8 core FX will definitely yield higher gaming performance than a PS4, unless terrible ports like GTA4 happen again. And again, a PC is a PC, not a console, and it will benefits more than just a console.

And no, console games aren't cheaper to get than PC ones, specially with all the DLC stuffs. As for games with monthly fee, they're exceptional. Please go advice WoW players to get a console.

thats a mid to high end gaming build. you do realize he's coming from console right?

Okay I do not need an os or monitor. Currently I am gaming on a crappy laptop. Model hp dv7-6b77dx. And I just need something that will last and my upgrade cycle is 4-5 years by the way.

hey, I'm a PC gamer and I like it, that doesn't mean consoles have no place in the world. take your console hate somewhere else.

also, a HD7870 and a 6/8 core FX has more RAW COMPUTE than a PS4, that's a HUGE difference from better game performance.

I came to pc gaming because console gaming is changing with monthly subscriptions. And games $60. That's not going to help me in the long-run. Don't get me wrong, consoles are great. Ive been a console gamer all my life. I just wanna play games until 2014-15 until next upgrade.

Nah, not hating on consoles especially when I'm still having a PS2 in a corner ( that I'm still playing PES on with friends ), it's just that unless someone need a 400$ system with small form factor, wifi and a BD-reader, PC is the way to go.
